What is Medical Qigong?

Qigong is an ancient form of Chinese energetic medicine and is one of the five main forms of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), along with herbal medicine, acupuncture and moxibustion (as one form of treatment), therapeutical Tuina massage, and medicinal nutrition.

While all Qigongs have health benefits, there is a small group of Qigong which are specially classed as Medical Qigong, because they are specially designed to treat health conditions. Xianggong is the most representative type of medical Qigong, because it benefits the widest range of health conditions, often reaches effect fast, is easy to learn and practice and suit for all ages, hence we call it the generic name, Medical Qigong, although there are a couple of other Qigongs we are teaching which are designed for specific conditions like cancer and liver disease.

By involving the meridian system used in acupuncture, combining meditation techniques with physical movements, it unlocks our body's natural healing ability, and has the similar effect as acupuncture which regulates the energy in meridians and related organs and other bodily parts to achieve healing purpose.

How does the class work

There are group classes and private 1-2-1 classes. Both can be face-to-face and online.

Before the classes start, a personal diagnosis will be carried out, and a tailor-made treatment plan made for you. In the class we will also teach you how to be aware of your health changes in the future, and alter your own practice to manage your own health.

Once you learn it, you will have a life-time tool to look after your own health in future. Chinese medicine emphasises ‘treat the not-ill’, i.e. prevent illness before they develop.

Group classes face to face will be up to 5 people, online up to 16 people. Time of class will be decided after the class is formed.

Price for group class is £160 for Level 1, in total 8 hours with 2 hours per session; Level 2 will be £160, 10 hours in total with 2 hours per session. At level two class, both levels will be combined for improvement. Private 1-2-1 sessions are available for £60 per hour.

After Level 1 is completed, a weekly practicing class will be starting at £10 per lesson.

Concession prices for over 70 and low income group are available. If you have any questions, please get in touch with Erica Chen.
